Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Picks

Deep breath- the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is upon us. Let the obsessive internet shopping begin. When most stores have a sale they slash prices on the items I'm never interested in yet of course the sale lures me in to purchase the full price items, I'm a sucker like that. Nordstrom on the other hand discounts all my favorites, seriously Zella 'live in' leggings for $33.90 you can't beat that. The sale is one of my favorite times to stock up on the basics, they discount all brands of designer jeans, Hanky Panky undies, blazers, sun glasses and to die for handbags! A few of my purchases below. :)

If you have not tried a pair of these leggings you're seriously missing out, they are so comfortable and fit like a glove. The pants are reversible, one side is shiner than the other which makes them very  versatile, I wear my both to work out and to work with a blouse. I got two pairs of Zella 'live in' leggings in black because of the price and how often I wear them I had to stock up. I also got a pair of Zella capri leggings strictly for working out.
Zella 'Live In' Reversible Leggings

One of my favorite outfits to wear in the winter is leggings (usually Zellas :)) and sweaters. I fell in love with this sweater the second I saw it, I love the longer length so it covers my bum and the zipper detail on the shoulder is perfection, I love little details like that.
Caslon® Zip Shoulder Crewneck Tunic Sweater (Regular & Petite)

I'm usually not a big jewelry person, I stick to my dainty basics but I fell in love with a few pieces. I'm a huge fan of gold right now and anything black is right up my alley to this bracelet was a no brainer. I also loved this necklace, I thought it would be perfect with a simple tee.

Cara Leather & Link Bracelet       BaubleBar 'Drama' Stone Cluster Pendant Necklace (Nordstrom Exclusive)

If you know me you know I'm obsessed with animal print, my current running shoes are just fine but when I saw these I about died. One more reason to workout, get to wear my favorite print!
Nike 'Free TR Connect 2' Training Shoe (Women)

Every year I like getting a new coat that I can wear to work, whether it's a cute pea coat, a trench  or something lighter a new jacket every year is a must. Since I live in Seattle an overcoat is mandatory pretty much all year and no one wants to wear the same jacket everyday! I decided to get a white jacket this year, which I know is a risk and I'm not totally sold on the neckline BUT I did love it the second I saw it, very chic and can be dressed up or down. Fingers crossed I love it in person as much as online.

Jolt Colorblock Faux Leather Bouclé Knit Coat (Juniors)

I got a few other work shirts that'll be great for everyday wear that I won't bore you with. :) I also stocked up on a few fitted zip-up sweatshirts. I have decided I'm too old to wear pull-over hooded sweatshirts unless I'm at an outdoor sporting event so I needed some cute sweatshirts to run errands or hang around the house in, this one below is my favorite. :)

Caslon® Belted French Terry Jacket

Drum roll please... for the grand finale... This dress is amazballs, that is all there is to say about that. I am so obsessed I can't even handle it. I have been watching the shipping tracking number on this bad boy like a movie.  OH yeah and it's not on the anniversary sale... whoops! I couldn't help it.

Another Nordy's Anniversary Sale in the books, hope you enjoyed my finds!

Home Trend: Floating Shelves

A new trend for kitchens is installing floating shelves, I am obsessed with this look however buyer beware! If you plan on using floating shelves for storage I'm assuming you realize the obvious... you can't hide your mess! I may or may not be known to shove dishware into my cupboards as I'm unloading the dishwasher without any organization. Don't judge. With your dishware exposed it's imperative to put them back in an organized way so they look appealing to the eye, it may take a few times of rearranging before your shelves look just right.

Since your dishes are hanging out there for everyone to see they also need to look nice and be coordinated. If you're currently using mismatched plastic cups and random colored dishware from college and not willing to invest in matching sets this may not be the storage solution for you. Side note it won't cost you and arm and a leg to update your dishware, with stores like Home Goods, Ross, Ikea and Target it's fairly inexpensive to update to matching cups, plates and bowls.  My suggestion would be to keep it simple, I personally love classic white and crystal glasses. I bought all my dishware from Crate and Barrel, the classic white which will never go out of style, they also always carry it so if I need to add to my collection I can.

If you're designing your kitchen and interested in using floating shelving be sure to add cupboards below your counter with doors, you can't always be organized and let's be honest there is no way to make Tupperware look pretty!
Now that I told you all the hurdles for using floating shelving let me tell you why I'm obsessed... hello they are seriously chic. Weather you use dark wood, light wood or white they can take your kitchen up a notch.  A lot of people spend a great deal of money on their dishes just to hide them away all day, now you can show them off almost as wall art. Because the trend is newer it's also an unexpected element in your kitchen that will get your guests talking. Depending on which route you go floating shelving can also be much less expensive than new cabinets, it's a cost effective way to update your kitchen. A lot of kitchens lack storage space and there simply isn't any room to add more cabinets or a pantry, but if you look around there will be a spot to add floating shelving, it's an easy and eye catching way to add storage.

This is what I'm doing with my kitchen Remodel - Raised Existing Cabinets, and added floating shelves

Move over Kate Middleton.

I've always been fascinated (by fascinated I mean obsessed) with people of royalty, their lives seem so interesting and glamorous to me and to be honest I dream of being one! :) I am not the only one either, the Kate Middleton phenomena has really brought out the crazy in us royalty obsessed people.

Kate barely steps outside in an outfit and the look is completely sold out world wide... talk about having an influence, not to mention she single-handedly brought lace back into style. THAT wedding dress, so classy. As much as I love Kate's style I feel she's been overshadowing some other royal ladies and they aren't getting the credit they deserve.

I did a Google search for Princess Letizia of Spain today (duh, you haven't?) and was so impressed by her style, she is flawless and so elegant! She could be a crazy dictator for all I know, obviously I didn't read her bio, all I do know is she looks fab in EVERY freaking photo.

Here's a little taste. I wish I had mature events to attend and have reasons to get so dressed.... A girl can dream...

I have always loved neutrals and I love that she went with a high waist pant and bold belt while keeping the rest of the outfit simple.

Is she the most chic mom ever?

Little risqué for a royal but my goodness she looks glam! The shoes... I want them.

If this picture doesn't make you want to go get a spray tan I don't know what would.

Her "Pippa Middleton" moment, she's on the left, this was in front of the White House and Michelle Obama was cut out of this photo... it's pretty funny. :)

Love that she's wearing flats.

LOVE LOVE LOVE.

I could post a million pictures of her, you get the point!

Randomness...

My mom is going to Cabo next weekend so obviously we needed  to go shopping... even though she's been to Cabo about 27 times and has a closet full of warm weather attire... a shopping trip was in order.
As focused on the mission as I was I couldn't resist taking a look for myself. :) We stopped by The Limited randomly because they were having a 50% sale EVEN on full priced items which is an insanely good deal.

I am SO glad we made that stop because I scored MAJORLY. I found a white leather jacket that was marked down from $138 to $49.99 plus an extra 25% off... I mean could you die. I wore the jacket last night and am so in love, I get a few other items from The Limited, a stripped peplum top, two pairs of earrings and a ring.

I am trying to grow my jewelry collection and picking up a couple new pieces always excites me, especially on sale!

Here is a pic of me wearing the jacket, sorry it's not straight on...

Striped Peplum Top

Sorry the picture is so small but this shirt is so comfy and there is an exposed zipper detail on the back.

I also did a little on-line shopping and finally purchased a skort (yes I just said skort) that I had been lusting after from Zara, can't wait for the weather to get warm so I can wear it!

FOLD OVER SKORT

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Spot On...

I came across this quote today by Mary-Kate Olsen that really spoke to me , I know what you're thinking, an Olsen twin had something deep to say... I thought their vocabulary strictly consisted of  "Venti" and "Americano"...

I love her realization and it's something I'm trying to live by.
